2023 Publishing Look Back
I’m so proud of the poetry I’ve helped publish this year with Apparition Lit, and I have three projects of my own that came out this year!
RPG:
Build Your Own Library in Air & Nothingness Press’s The Librarian Card Catalogue (I’ve never written an RPG before but I’ve played many - this was such a fun project & I love the completed deck!)
Poetry:
Hamelin in the Distance - my favorite poem I’ve written to-date, and over 200 lines! It found a home in Heroic Fantasy Quarterly in November.
“Forget your dance-steps, forget the pound of heel and toe
Forget the twists and turns, Tongue, forget your songs!
Forget the tunes and twirls of them, forget the words of tales
May they all elude you—and one more! Fiddle, bend no more.
Bow, break and splinter, strings, do not be tuned
Caterwaul when cheer is called, bray beneath the moon.”
A Kelpie Sees Mari Lwyd From Afar, by far the silliest poem I’ve written, found a wonderful home in Haven Spec’s December issue.
“I spied you in their midst like an ancestor’s ghost
Bedecked with bright garlands, the object of toasts
With clapping of shoulders and patting of backs
They stumbled on further, you leading the pack”
